Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort My cousin and I stayed out in the country and we enjoyed our stay very much. We felt as though we were experiencing rural Italy. All the food they made was grown on their farm and it was so delicious. We also felt the location was great. The country rooms were still in walking distance of both the restaurants in town and the Ostia Antica ruins. Overall we had a wonderful time here and would recommend staying here to anyone.

Your young lady at the front desk was very friendly, kind, and helpful to us, couldn't have been nicer. When viewing your info on the web, only the few km's to the airport seemed good; however, the traffic was horrible, both coming and going. It took us more than 30 minutes to reach the airport.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort I enjoyed the surroundings at Ostia Antica. I just had to walk across the street & I could walk right into an uncrowded ruins site to explore. Wish I could have had a couple more days to explore, it would take at least a few days to go through all of the ruins & the museum & gift shop. Good food in the cafeteria. (Ruins are closed mondays.) The hotel room windows face the "square" which people gathered in, church was there, etc. Slept well even with window open all night. Not too loud outside. Good breakfast. Pharmacy & laundry right across the street as well. Pharmacist could speak English, laundry was done the next day. The hotel called to schedule a Taxi to take me to airport & got me a very good deal (30.)

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort They want to be a country "resort" but they fall well below that level. It was not a resort at all. There were no evening meals available. The very short trip to the airport in their "taxi" was 28 Euros when it appeared from the information that it was part of the "inn's" services. The young woman at the front desk was more than helpful. The manager, apparently her father, seemed clueless about the available facilities. Everyone was pleasant. We would probably stay there again for it's proximity to Osta Antica but I don't have any friends who would rough it. One night we were direcxtly below the airport flight path and all night there was incredible noise. There was no telephone in the room.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort The owner was very friendly, stayed open late and, because it was late and raining, he even picked us up from the metro station. Then, because we had an early flight and he didn't want us to lose time in the morning, he upgraded our room! We stayed in one of the towers. I was touched by the care and pride he took in some of the special room details: toothbrushes, chocolates and even a cute bedtime story and a coin for the Trevi fountain. My only complaint would be that the room had a strong scent of some cleaning product or Potpori.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort A very pleasant stay in a very interesting area. We enjoyed it a lot and only wish that we could have stayed longer. My only suggestionis that more information on the rooms be provided onthe website. We didn't know until we arrived that the actual rooms were some distance from the "castle" the main hotel area. That was no problem as the manager drove us to our rooms however it would have been worthwhile to know the general layout before hand. But overall an enjoyable visit and a good price.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort We booked a 'country' room, but did not realize that it was about a third of a mile out of the town and only accessible by walking a dirt road. This upset my husband, being caught by surprise. It was not an issue to get our luggage to the room because the staff took us in their mini van. However, we would not have been able to get our luggage back to the main office in the morning where breakfast was served prior to departing for the airport. To solve the problem, the staff called us a cab that would pick us up at our room, take us to the main office for breakfast, with our luggage in the car, and wait for us prior to taking us to the airport. We absolutely loved the room and the setting. The hosts were hospitable enough to provide a fairy tale to read, chocolates and a coin for the Trevi fountain. It was lovely and I recommend it highly (assuming the transportation is worked out or the guests have their own car).

The hotel general location was easy to find but I couldn't actualy see that I was at the hotel entrance even when I walke past it and was standing direcly in front of it. Poorly signed. The hotel is extremely charming but 2 things detracted from the experience. A bathroom badly in need of modernizng and lack of air-conditioning. I will use the hotel again because of the location and recommend it for "non-summer" periods.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort They list their address as being in 'Ostia' when, in face, they're in 'Ostia Antica'. It took my taxi driver 20 minutes to finally get someone on the phone (after being hung up on once!) to tell him where the hotel was. It then cost me 35 Euro to travel from Fiumicino Airport to the hotel, a ten minute ride at best. The hotel suggested a restauraunt, the 'Monumento', which turned out to be a real tourist trap and was probably the worst meal I've ever had in Italy (after many, many trips). This was not a good experience, although the physical hotel itself was quite beautiful.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort After decades of searching, we have finally found the perfect place to stay when flying in and out of Fiumicino airport! As a retired couple without children, we prefer the town rooms/apartments on the square facing the church and castle. The cost there is more than we usually spend, but worth the extra cost as accommodations are beautifully decorated and comfortable, and the setting is incomparable. Only negative is bathrooms are small with poor lighting, but ours did have a great view! The amazing archaeological park of Ostia Antica is just a block away! Charming owner/manager will help in any way possible to ensure your every desire is satisfied...just ask!

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort I have lived in Milano 20 years ago and have spent may a time in Rome, either with family or business. This hotel is a great find, I will never stay in Rome again, this hotel is quiet and it only takes 20 minutes by train to get to Rome. The beach is only a few kiometers away. The staff goes out of their way to help you- I needed help with the cash for the cab the morning of leaving due to not enough cash and they even helped. I would highly suggest this to anyone especailly after a long flight- you can walk the ruins just next to the place and stay relaxed, and get great rest. The medival village is beautiful, and that is where you stay or at the country place. I will always return here, for coming and going, these are great prices and better rooms then you will ever find in Rome. Anyone who really travlels and knows Rome would agree if they stayed here. You stay in a most beatuful villge wherethe locals still live and you dine and sleep where the counts used to live. This is not toursity, so if you need all that action and T-shirts every block then go to Rome, but I beleive even those people would find this a better deal and a much better place. I will see the castle next visit...

It is utterly charming and a restful place to say outside of Rome and very near he airport. Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort What a surprise! We were in Ostia during the Catholic Churches celebration of their patron saint, S. Aurea on August 26 and 27. The festivities took place on the piazza, right outside the building in which we were housed. Our hotel room was on the second floor and over looked all the festivities. How fantastic, we had the best seat in the house! The hotel staff were extremely accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

The room which we had was described as that formerly of the `head of the guard'. Whilst the accomodation could be described as `quaint' and reasonably comfortable, with several interesting original features, the airless bathroom & fittings left much to be desired. That said, I could not fault the courtesy and helpfulness of the gentleman receptionist.

We had to leave early in the morning before the scheduled breakfast and were given a basket of packaged bread stuffs that were unappetizing to the whole family. Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Rodrigo de Vivar Country & Resort. The accomodations provided were absolutely fabulous! Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very brief, as it was our last stop (for one day) culminating a ten day vacation in Italy. But then too, what a way to end our trip -- staying overnight in a Medieval Burg. My 10 and 12 year old children absolutely adored it. I can't say enough about the professional and helpful nature of the staff, most especially Francesca and Giovanni. I would definitely consider staying here again if traveling to Italy, and would recommend Rodrigo de Vivar to family and friends. My only disappoinment was the lack of available restaurants within proximity of the hotel. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and felt that the hotel was very reasonably priced for the accomodations and services provided, as well as for traveling over the Christmas / New Year period.

We only spent the night there because we had a very early airline departure the next morning, but I would have liked to spend a little more time. The front desk service was exceptional. They were very helpful in arranging transportation from the terminal to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport - this made the end of our trip a lot easier for us. And yes, the airport is really only about 5-10 minutes from the hotel. I was a bit disappointed in the service at the restaurant. We arrived at 9:30pm, which was about the time we typically had dinner mostly anywhere else in Italy, but they were not able or willing to accomodate room for 3 for dinner. I was a bit surprised that not even a potential solution was offered, even when I asked if we could atleast order a meal to take to our room. Not the type of service I expected considering the service of the front desk. Fortunately, we had purchased some cheese, wine and crackers for our trip up from Sorrento, which we made due with. Even so, I would definitely stay again. Though, I hope the restaurant takes a lesson from the front desk in terms of service.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort We really enjoyed staying at the hotel. We found it comfortable and suited our needs. My 81 year old mother found it very comfortable which was imprtant to us. (We had 2 rooms accommodating 4 of us). We found the staff helpful and attentive and they borught us breakfast before the "official" time since we had a very early flight. Our only issue was the dinner. We did not think it meritted 30 Euro. The first course was fine, the pasta was excellent but the meat was certainly not of standard- we have eaten all over Italy by now and this was a disappointment. Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort Our room was very hot, filled with flies, and although the sheets and bathroom appeared clean, the room honestly smelled like dirty mop water. There were no screens on the windows so we could not open them (more flies and cats outside prevented this) and no fan was available. There was a loud banging from behind our cottage throughout the night (maybe from a cow or horse stall?). The dogs on the property barked all night. The pillows on the bed were so hard they were impossible to sleep on. Maybe a few years ago it was a nice stay, but not anymore.

My only advice is to update the photo of the bedroom online - the bedroom we had was very nice. The photo shows an uninspiring, tiny room. Rodrigo was very welcoming and friendly even though we arrived late (midnight!). Every detail was thought of including chocolates and bedtime stories left out on the bed.

Because of our early morning leave, the very friendly receptioniste gave us a breakfast basket. The extra geranium and chocolates next to the bed as well as a 500Lire coin to throw in the Trevi fountain were an extra gesture and very much appreciated. I can recommend this hotel very much.

Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort Das Hotel liegt ideal, um die antike Stadt Ostia zu besuchen. Das Ambiente mit mittelalterlicher Stadt und Burg ist einmalig für Leute, die eine authentische Umgebung bevorzugen. Die Lage des Hotels bzw. der Rezeption ist allerdings nicht ganz einfach zu finden, wenn man mit dem Auto oder Taxi von Fiumicino anreist. Die Entfernungsangaben zum Flughafen, Strand und zur antiken Stadt sind etwas untertrieben. Es wäre besser, die Entfernungen in km oder beides anzugeben. In der Liste der Zimmertypen mit Preisangaben gibt es keine Angaben über die Lage der Räume. So ist bei den Standard Double Rooms nicht angegeben, dass sie in größerer Entfernung (2 km?) zur Rezeption irgendwo auf dem Lande liegen, also zu Fuß und mit Gepäck (wenn man mit dem Taxi oder der Bahn anreist) kaum erreichbar sind. Diese Angaben sollten auf jeden Fall noch in die Information über das Hotel aufgenommen werden. Am besten wäre ein Plan des Ortes mit Lage der einzelnen Appartments und Zimmer. Rodrigo De Vivar Country & Resort sagen Sie bitte den Country Buchern, dass ein PKW dringend empfohlen ist, da die coutry-rooms mehr als einen Kilometer Fußweg von der Reception, vom Dorf entfernt sind. Ansonsten ist da alles ganz ok. mfG. R. Verdan
